Classical

Classical Education is an approach to learning that has stood the test of time and seeks out what is good, true and beautiful. We seek to provide an education rooted in fostering critical thinking and intellectual curiosity. We use curriculum that fosters consistency, a foundation of classical understanding, and usability in community together.

Community

We foster a nurturing environment where students grow together participating in a common curriculum that will give your kids a "common language" as they work and build relationships together. Parents support one another through instructing each other's children, being lead learners and supporting the community. Amicus is all volunteer led and supported.

A non-profit co-op, not a business

Amicus is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization led by a board of directors consisting of members who volunteer for that role.

Amicus is all volunteer based and led. No teachers are paid. Instead, one parent from each participating family commits to fulfilling their responsibility within the group. All of the participating adults need to be willing and able to instruct three or more classes depending on projected enrollment. Family cost is based on our operating expenses and depends on the amount of students we are enrolling.

The ACA Statement of Faith

We believe there is only one true and living God, who exists in three co-equal yet distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  He is eternal, pure, holy, good, gracious, righteous, wrathful, jealous, and just.  He created all things, whether in heaven or on earth, and holds all things together through the power of his word.

We believe God created humans: man and woman, male and female, (one in kind, different in persons) in his image and likeness. He also created the life-long covenant of marriage as the union of one man and one woman.  This relationship is a reflection of God’s relationship with them. However, when man rebelled against this relationship with God, sin entered the world.  We believe sin separates man from man, and man from God, which results in physical and spiritual death.  God is the just judge of what is good and upright, and condemns what is sinful and wrong.

He has always existed as God, but He took on human flesh when he was born of the Virgin Mary.  He himself committed no sin, but died on the cross to bear the punishment for our sins; saving us from sin and hell.  He was buried and physically raised back to life on the third day. He ascended to the right-hand of the Father where he now reigns victorious over sin and death. He will one day return to judge the living and the dead, and to rule in a new heaven and earth.

We believe that salvation from sin and the gift of eternal life are found only in Jesus Christ.  This salvation is received by grace alone, through faith alone, to the glory of God alone.  Salvation from sin is not accomplished by our own works, but we are fully reliant upon the work of the triune God to accomplish it for us.

We believe God calls us to live in relationship with Him and in obedience to Him.  Our goal is to be pleasing to Him and bring Him glory.  We aim to keep His commands, grow in our knowledge and understanding of Him, and become more like Christ.  We trust in Him for forgiveness and grace when we fall short.

We believe that, through the Holy Spirit - the third person of the Trinity - living in us, we can rely on Him for the rebirth of our souls, for the confidence of our salvation, for the revelation of His Word, and for the conviction of our sin; also to help us in persevering in our faith until the end, and in edifying Jesus’ church through our various giftings.

It is profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness. It is the basis by which we know Truth.

"...there is only one true and living God..."

We believe the Bible, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is God's  word. It is given by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, so that we can know God and His will. The Bible is inerrant, complete, final, and authoritative as God's instruction for His saints.

We believe that Jesus Christ, second person of the Trinity, is the Son of God and Son of Man, both fully human and fully divine.
